What Most Buyers Miss When Auditing a Medical Consumables Factory
Most overseas buyers audit a Chinese medical consumables factory by checking three things: business license, GMP certificate, and product samples.
That is a good start—but it is not enough.
Here are three things that are often overlooked during a factory audit, yet they directly affect long-term supply stability:
1. Raw Material Traceability
Ask the factory how they track incoming materials. A serious manufacturer should be able to trace a finished product back to the specific batch of raw material used. If the answer is vague, quality consistency across orders may be at risk.
2. In-Process Inspection, Not Just Final Inspection
Many factories only inspect finished goods. But for products like Medical Gauze Bandages, Disposable Medical Underpads, and Sterile Surgical Gloves, defects often originate during production—folding tension, material alignment, or sealing temperature. A factory that monitors quality during production is far more reliable than one that only checks at the end.
3. Packaging Line Consistency
Packaging is not just about appearance. For products such as Disposable Vaginal Speculums and Nasal Oxygen Cannulas, packaging affects sterility maintenance, shelf life, and compliance with destination market regulations. Ask how the factory controls sealing strength and labeling accuracy.
At Yangzhou Meilin Medical Devices Co., Ltd., we operate GMP-certified cleanrooms and maintain full-chain quality control from raw materials to finished goods. We supply 16 major product categories and support OEM/private label for global partners.
What do you usually check during a factory audit? Would be glad to hear different perspectives.
